Jackson County County Schools: Which ethnicity was most represented in 2021-22 school year?

Of the many ethnicities represented in Jackson County County schools, the most prevalent ethnic group among students enrolled in Jackson County County schools in 2021-22 school year were white, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of the 3,203 students attending Jackson County County schools, 46.2% were white. Hispanic students were the second largest ethnicity, making up 43.6% of Jackson County County students.

In the previous school year, white students still were the most common group in Jackson County County, representing 47.2% of the student body.

Edna Junior High School had the most even distribution of races among the county schools, including 42.7% Hispanic students, 37% white students, 14.7% Black students, 3% Asian students, and 2.7% Multi-racial students.

In the 2021-22 school year, the total number of students enrolled in public schools in the county increased 2.4% when compared to the previous year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
